Natural Unique Christmas Decorations
Are you tired of decorating the living room with the Christmas tree in the same colors and with the same ornaments year after year? If you’re ready for a change, why not try some natural unique Christmas decorations that emphasize the beauty of this wonderful season?
To achieve your change of scenery you can use materials from your own garden, or from the woods or even a nursery. You may need to use a bit more imagination and resourcefulness than usual if your garden or the woods are covered in snow, but most craft stores have oodles of things to peak the imagination. I love putting silk poinsettia leaves in green, red and off white with a touch of gold on my branches. I’ve been know to brighten things up with artificial holly berries too!
For creating natural unique Christmas decorations, you can use things like dried leaves, ornamental plants, tree branches and fruits. If you arrange things creatively, you’ll be amazed by how lovely and festive they can be.
For a plus in color and a fresh look, you can add seasonal flowers that are known to last long, and will get you through the holidays. This gives the natural unique Christmas decorations a woodsy, earthy, feeling, and fill the air with a perfume that reminds you of the forest and a garden full of flowers.
You can also use fruits and vegetables in attractive colors instead of the flowers. A bowl of colorful fruit nestled in a bed of branches is quite attractive as a table centerpiece.
If you’re using branches and/or flowers, don’t forget to slice off the bottom ¼” or so, so they will absorb water more efficiently and stay fresh longer.
For your Christmas centerpiece, you’ll want to make sure it’s not too tall. I’m sure your family, friends and guests would like to see each other and be able to talk, have some laughs and be able to reach the gravy… Here are a couple of ideas from Midwest Living:
Easy and Elegant
Create this pretty centerpiece in just a couple of minutes. Float roses and a few evergreen twigs inside a clear container, and surround with holly. Build on a clear tray or platter, and you’ve got an easily portable decoration!
A fancy vintage silver tray becomes a standout centerpiece when dressed with glowing tea lights, several glitzy ornaments, fresh cedar branches and a single pine cone.
For a simple yet stunning centerpiece, place five votive candles (in a variety of Christmas colors) in a line down a red rectangular serving dish. Fill the rest of the dish with cranberries, garnish with a few pine twigs and dust with artificial snow.
Create a pretty winter scene on a white plate covered with artificial snow. Set the plate on a shallow bed of artificial pine twigs. Add tiny trees and deer statues or other animal figures for a woodland look.
Just try to be creative and you’ll come up with never before seen natural unique Christmas decorations that will indeed make the Christmas holidays special and different!
